Welch, WV I took the above photo in Welch, WV. In the late 1940's/early 1950's, backed by the coal and steel industries, Welch was one of the richest cities in the United States, but coal and steel have left town, and most other businesses have followed suit. The majority of the businesses that hadn't closed down did so after a major flood of the Tug River/Elkhorn Creek in 2002. The above scene brought to mind the economic downturn the entire country has faced since that election, and a pervasive loss of hope in the face of the uncertainties our country now faces. Places like Welch, which were already suffering, are hardest hit in such times.
This may be my last post for at least a couple of weeks. My computer crashed recently, and until I get it fixed posts will be few and far between.

I like this photo. It has more depth* to it than some of your others and I think that's a good thing for me.
*Not depth as in any sort of deep, philosophical meaning, but rather depth as in not flat.
